About
Hello, I am Randy Hammons, a full time front-end web developer, and freelancing web and print designer who recently relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. This website is an experimental and first-hand lifestream for my non-work related endeavors and social network feeds. There is an entirely different website devoted to my work that you can check out here.
Bits about me:
- I am married, and loving every bit of it.
- I live and work in Cleveland, Ohio USA. You can find some hilarious information about Cleveland, here and here.
- I work for the what I believe is the finest interactive agency in Cleveland, Optiem.
- I'm originally from Sandusky, Ohio. In fact, the original "Apartment 17" inspiring this website's namesake exists, in Sandusky.
- I love photography,
in the amateur hobbyist sense. If it became a job for me, it might change my mind.
My current photog gear consists of the following:
- Canon Rebel XS

- Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens
- Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens
- I am an HTPC nerd, and currently this is my setup
- Mac Mini - 2.0ghz C2D, 2 gigabytes RAM, running Apple OS X Snow Leopard
- Boxee
- Sometimes Plex, something I've only recently switched away from.
- Westinghouse 37" 1080p Monitor connected to Mac Mini via DVI
- A 1000W Samsung HTIB solution with Optical Audio in from Mac Mini
- 3 - 1 Terrabyte USB HardDrives
- Snatch Remote

- Onyx
- Being an HTPC nerd also makes me a Movie and TV nerd. I try not to watch too much, some of my favorite movies are:
- I dig a good existential read, like Nietzche or Camus.
- I love Camping, BBQing, Frisbee, and most outdoor summer-time things, but usually prefer the Fall or Winter weather.
About The Site
Every now and again I get a questions about this site; primarily how it was created and what I used to create it. So, in hopes to clear up any of these questions and share some of my favorite tools, here goes:
- Site is hosted at DreamHost
- The back-end is SweetCron
- The site is developed using XHTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript (Primarily using the Prototype.JS framework)
- When it comes to design, I primarily use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
- For Development and Deployment I use Panic Software's Coda
- Almost exclusively on a Mac running OSX Snow Leopard.
